6-APB & 5-APB ('Benzofury')

Pharmacology

5 & 6-APB are phenythylamine-type substances related to MDMA (Ecstasy) and 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA).

5 & 6-APB are potent triple monoamine transport inhibitors for dopamine (DAT), norepinephrine (NET) and serotonin (SERT) in vitro, with highest potencies for DAT and NET. Their potencies on the monoamine transporters are similar to those of 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (Ecstasy). 5 & 6-APB also have high affinities for 5-HT2B and α2C receptors, which regulate serotonin levels in the brain and therefore affect the user’s mood.

Anecdotal user reports suggest that 5-APB has emphathogenic and stimulant effects and that it may be stronger than 6-APB, but this has not yet been verified.
